If Dying Has Taught Me Anything…

Going through college I was living a life that leads to emptiness…a life that eventually leads to a sad death and not necessarily a physical death…but a spiritual death. I was impacting people’s lives, but not in the right way. When I look back on how I was living life I can see that I as on a path of destruction. You know what they say…hindsight is 20/20. They also say you learn from your mistakes. I live that saying every day at work. The days that I learn the most are also the days where I mess up the most. I mess up one day, but the next day I am better at my job because of it.

In life you mess up…we are born as sinners. Sin is in our human nature, but that is no excuse for sinning. In life you learn from your mistakes and grow from them. It took a few mistakes to make me appreciate what life is all about. If dying has taught me anything it has taught me how to live.

Again, I am not talking about physically dying…but…some people do deal with that in their life. Think for a second…what if you were diagnosed with a terrible disease that was incurable. It would really force you to look back on your life think about everything that you had done up to that point. Have you made an impact on people’s lives in your short time…that has now become shorter due to your diagnosis? All of the sudden you realize there is so much you want to do. You want to make people smile….you want to make people happy. It usually takes something tragic for a person to figure out how to really live.

It does not have to be that way. You can learn from other people’s experiences or you can learn by experiencing it yourself. Againstiflow wants to help you learn how to live life. Do not fall in to the traps of today’s society. So many people just go with the flow and make the same mistakes the people before them are making. I can’t tell you how many people leave college and say “I did so many stupid things in college. I was crazy.” It does not have to be that way. You do not have to follow the crowd when you go to college. Let us help you experience what life is all about. You can watch inspirational videos and stories about people changing their lives, but why don’t you come and feel that for yourself.  Here is a good quote I heard from the documentary “The Art of Flight”:

“Experiencing the world through endless second hand information isn’t enough. If we want authenticity we have to initiate it. We will never know our full potential unless we push ourselves to find it. It’s this self-discovery that inevitably takes us to the wildest places on earth.”

Whatever that means to you we want to help you find it. We do not want you to sit there dreaming of doing something else with your life day after day. We want you to be excited about the day ahead and excited about what is to come. The only way to find out what YOU want to do with your life is by initiating that yourself….not through reading other people’s success stories or other people’s life changing moments. Those videos and stories are amazing and I love watching them more than anyone else, but at some point you have to find that in yourself. The reason an inspirational video inspires you so much is because it is showing you what life is all about! Your story will not be the same as the ones you have seen in the video because God has a unique plan for you. He has a plan for you that is greater than any story you have heard or video you have watched. But you cannot find out what it is without initiating that first step. God will not do everything for you. Like any relationship it works both ways. But, if you do your part….I can guarantee you that He will do His. So watch this video and then join us in finding out what life is all about…againstiflow – http://www.faithit.com/his-dying-wish-to-steal-a-donut-truck-and-do-something-crazy-to-inspire-thousands-seriously/
